Citi Journalistic Excellence Award
Informed reporting on business, economic and financial issues leads to a more educated public and a more open marketplace. This is why Citi launched, nearly 30 years ago, the Citi Journalistic Excellence Award. An award that recognizes outstanding financial and business reporting and editorial writing in many markets in which we do business around the world. This year, Citibank Belgium organizes the 11th edition of the Citi Journalistic Excellence Award.
The competition is open to professional journalists. They have to submit an article with a financial or economic subject (financial column, markets, companies, industries).
The winners are invited to an International Seminar for economic journalists at Columbia University (NY, USA), where they will attend a variety of economic lectures together with colleagues from more than 20 countries. The programme includes presentations by and meetings with academics, media specialists, policymakers and visits to the IMF, the NYSE, CNN Financial News, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Business News.
An independent jury selects two winners: one among the French-speaking candidates and another one among the Dutch-speaking candidates.
The jury is composed of:
- Minister of State Herman De Croo, President of the jury
- Prof. Dr. Bruno Colmant, Deputy CEO of Fortis Holding
- Prof. Dr. Rudy Aernoudt, Director General of One Laptop Per Child Europe and Professor European Economy
- Dr. Frank Thevissen, communications advisor and President of the governmental communication expert commission in the Flemish Parliament
- Pierre Loppe, editor-in-chief of La Libre Entreprise
- Jan Bohets, former Senior Writer chez De Standaard
